Rev. Andrew R. Hart

Rev. Hart comes to Old First Church from Douglas Presbyterian Church in Lancaster, SC.  While at Douglas, membership increased, new ministries for children and older adults were started, and the church actively supported The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. Weekly e-mail devotionals were sent out to members.

Rev. Hart brings a diverse background to ministry.  Before entering Seminary, he was an instructor at the University of South Carolina, teaching American and Comparative Politics.  He also was a Fulbright Scholar to McGill University in Montreal.  His diverse background also includes time as an account manager for a computer company, working in Eastern Canada.  Rev. Hart believes that these life experiences, as well as his formal training at Princeton Theological Seminary, enhance his ministry.  Rev. Hart believes that the foundation of ministry is establishing and maintaining relationships with the congregation as well as developing the gifts that God has given each person within the church.

Rev Hart and his wife Rev. Laura Hart have been married 7 years and have two daughters, Olivia and Abigail, and one son Benjamin.  He also serves the Civil Air Patrol as a chaplain, is working on his doctorate of ministry, and enjoys playing basketball and kayaking.
