Church Services

Enter silently……..Wait prayerfully……..Worship reverently and expectantly

“Let all the earth keep silent before him”

Our steeple bell tolls each Sunday morning at 10:00am to announce the beginning of our worship service on the Lord’s Day- a day set aside for us to come together as a community of faith in our sanctuary.
The worship order follows five major actions centered in the Word of God:
    (1) gathering around the Word;
        (2) proclaiming the Word;
            (3) responding to the Word;
                (4) the sealing of the Word;
                    (5) bearing and following the Word into the world.

On the first Sunday of each month the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper is celebrated.  All those who have been baptized are invited to participate.  During the Sunday service we also administer the Sacrament of Baptism as people present children or themselves for incorporation into our church. We receive new members during worship, and ordain, install, and commission members as they are called to serve as leaders of our congregation.

Children come with their parents to the service and leave after the children’s sermon to attend church school until 11:10am.  The youngsters in our church school assist in the Family service held on the third Sunday of each month.  Child Care is available for infants to age 3 in the crib room beginning at 9:30am.  The children and their parents are welcome at the hospitality hour in Parish Hall immediately after the service.

As a Presbyterian Church we observe the following days and seasons outlined in the Book of Order (W3.2000):

a. Advent, a season to recollect the hope of the coming of Christ, and to look forward to the Lord’s coming again;
b. Christmas, a celebration of the birth of Christ;
c. Epiphany, a day for commemorating God’s self manifestation to all people;
d. Lent, a season of spiritual discipline and preparation, beginning with Ash Wednesday,   anticipating the celebration of the death and resurrection of Christ;
e. Holy Week, a time of remembrance and proclamation of the atoning suffering and death of Jesus Christ;
f. Easter, the day of the Lord’s resurrection and the season of rejoicing which commemorates his ministry until his Ascension, and continues through
g. The Day of Pentecost, the celebration of the gift of the Holy Spirit to the Church.

The church also observes other days such as Baptism of the Lord, Transfiguration of the Lord, Trinity Sunday, All Saints Day, and Christ the King.
