Presbyterian Women (PW) is the national women’s organization of the Presbyterian Church (USA). Membership is open to all women of Old First Presbyterian Church. With a history of more than 200 years and more than 300,000 members, PW is organized at all levels of the Presbyterian Church (USA). In 1983, the United Presbyterian Church USA and the Presbyterian Church US united. In 1988 the PW organization was created.
Women’s organizations have existed in the Presbyterian Church since the Presbyterian Church was established in 1789. Women gathered to sew, quilt and enjoy fellowship. Although lifestyles have changed, the need to be connected and to participate in the religious community remains strong.
